It was good to see you this weekend. Sorry that I didn't get to hang as much as I wanted to. Sometimes those shows are crazy.

I thought the point of this was to bring NEW music to college station? So why is it we have the same headliners every damn year?

Jim - pushmonkey is the only one that has headlined in the past. There will be MANY bands that have never been to CS or haven't been in a long time...just don't go see the headliners if you don't want to.

Joe - they are listed on the NGMF website...link above. Are you gonna be at the show @ Side Car? As you know D and I will be in houston this weekned.

Aggie00--I don't think that I am going to make it to Houston. Cat and I are going to be in Alice at a family thing.

I think one reason that it seems that there is no "new music" is due to the attitude of the club owners and booking agents in College Station. Please realize this is purely my view on my experience with the scene in College Station. Their main concern is bar sales. Regardless of the music scene, they are going to promote their club in a way that they can sell drinks. Having a cover to get into your club is not productive to selling drinks. Most college kids view a $5 cover as at least 1 or 2 drinks that you can't buy. Therefore, bar owners and booking agents are not going to book a "new" band with a $5 cover and risk not having people in their bar to buy drinks. They would rather book the same bands that have established themselves in other markets, that they know A&M students will come see. Since there are not many venues, bar owners have the advantage of booking already established acts and don't really have to risk helping develop a following for a talented band unkown to BCS area.

well damn...its gonna be awhile before I/we see you then. I will be in austin on march 3 for a SXSW meeting (D might be too). If you are back in town, maybe some of us can meet up for dinner or something.

Blue October performed in 2000 and Bob Schieder's group The Ugly American's Headlined in 98.
This is pushmonkey's third appearance.

nevermind...stupid points to argue (even if they are correct). Responding after a long night of drinking isn't advised.

Just don't get see the headliners...there will be plenty of other bands to see.

However, Bob Scheider's solo stuff is NOTHING like the Scabs/Ugly Americans...

Still...I think Pushmonkey and Blue October are good and all, however, they need something else. ESP. Pushmonkey. I'd rather see REC2's band headline. Last Free Exit even. But, hey...you have to sell tickets huh? Cary Pierce? Anyone else. Just not Pushmonkey again. I just don't think they are the best thing CS could have booked.

Bar issues or no bar issues, when it comes time to play packed places, who gives a ****?

Then again...what do I care. I probably would never go see the headliner anyhow. Too many other bands to find. You never know what band is out there for ya. Something you have never heard.
