max stalling is Americana, has a stand up bass in his band, and his lead guitarist, dale clark, is awesome. dale plays with some spanish and classical guitar influences.

great song writing, great music, and just an he's an Ag.

NOT your typical grunge Texas country.

You might could add Adam Carroll to the above list.

Most of the stuff listed is really more Texas Music or Americana than folk. Although I really like most of the stuff listed. I've even played a little with Chad Boyd, he's written some good stuff.

For folkier-styled music I'd recommend:

Terri Hendrix
Adam Carroll
Slaid Cleaves
Sidehill Gougers
Dana Cooper
Shake Russell
Caroline Herring
Chip Taylor and Carrie Rodriguez
Damon Bramblett
Idgy Vaughn
Walt Wilkins
and, of course, old school Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, and Emmylou Harris recordings. They might not be true "folk" but they are great.
Jelly Jar
The Stairwell Sisters (they are more old-time and they are from San Francisco - but they are outstanding!)
Steve Fromholz
Jay Sims
Cary Swinney
Jimmie Dale Gilmore

Burnet, we may know each other if you've hung around Chad and know Holt. I've been playing around here with those guys for years.

The Gourds are a great band. See them live. Max Stalling is great too, as several of the earlier posters mentioned, and he is an Aggie.

Guitjon: I've been around this gin joint for years. I know lots of crazy cats. Barney was the poster that knows Chad, but alas I've met him as well.
