potatos + cream of mushroom soup + clams or bacon

If you use clams, you'll have to use cream and stuff instead of cream of mushroom soup.

I do a lot of cooking/entertaining. This recipe gets many compliments and is so easy.

Easy Potato Soup

28 oz. pkg. Ore Ida O'Brien potatoes
3 cans fat free chicken broth
1. lb. ham steak, diced
2 pkgs. Pioneer Country Gravy Mix
Grated cheddar cheese
Diced green onions
Black pepper to taste

In a large pot heat the potatoes, broth and ham over medium heat for 45 minutes. Whisk the gravy mix with one cup of water and add to the soup. Heat until warm. Serve garnished with the cheese and onions.

Potato Soup
This is really, really good and very easy. Great for people with arthritis or who find peeling potatoes difficult. After making it on the stove I always pour it in to the crock pot and my family eats it all day.

Ingredients:
1 lb bag Frozen, shredded hash browns
1 lb Bacon, cooked & crumbled
1 Medium onion, chopped (or ¾ cup frozen chopped onion)
1 box Instant potato flakes
Water
Milk
Butter
Salt
pepper
Directions:
1. Fry bacon, drain and crumble then put in large pot.
2. Add chopped onion and frozen has browns
3. Pour in water just to cover and heat just to boiling.
4. Add 3 tablespoons butter and 2 cups milk.
5. Keep adding ingredients to taste.
6. Once everything is heated, start adding potato flakes to the consistency you like.
7. If it is too thick, add more milk, if it is too thin, add more potato flakes.
8. Salt & pepper to taste

Can be poured in to crock pot and heated on low throughout the day. Remember to add milk as needed so it doesn’t become potato paste or if it is too thin, stir in more potato flakes but remember they thicken as they cook.

You can keep adding more milk and potato flakes throughout the day to stretch this if you need to.

You can also try recipezaar.com. You can even list ingredients that you have and it will find recipes with those ingredients in them. Members also can rate this recipes, which can help when deciding which one to try.

I have used both allrecipes and recipezaar. Both are great sites.

Cheeseburger Chowder. A little time consuming, but SO well worth it. Go to foodnetwork.com and put it in the recipe search tool bar and check the recipe out.

I make potato soup all the time. I usually use ham, but I've put in sausage and chicken before (erm also, I don't measure)

3-4 potatos, cubed, but not peeled (bite size)
1/4 - 1/2 bag macaroni noodles, any type
1-2 big carrots, chopped or a few baby carrots cut down (or as many as you like)
1-2 celery stalks (or not, as you like)
1/2 onion for flavor (to be removed later or put in cut up if you like to eat them).
1 leftover chicken quarter or a pound of hamb, or a package of little smokies (whatever you want, as much as you want)
Seasoning salt
a handful of instant potato flakes
1 cup or so cheddar cheese
milk
garlic
celery salt (optional, I usually leave it out).
pepper

Scale the ingredients based on the size of the pot you have - mine won't hold that much and I don't usually want that much so I throw two potatos in and have dinner for a few days. Anyway, boil the potatoes until fork tender, cook the macaroni separately, drain and combine both, toss everything else in the bigger pot, fill with milk until everything is covered, season to taste, cook until every thing's heated through on low/med low so the milk doesn't curdle - use the instant potatoes (or mash a few of the cooked potato pieces) to thicken the liquid.
