So far, the person selling the ring on Ebay has been very cooperative and nice. Here's the lowdown:

He bought the ring from a jeweler in Edinburgh. He is willing to cooperate with us to find the original owner before the auction ends in 2 days, and at the very least let the original owner buy the ring back.

The name inscribed on the ring, he says, appears to be Brady Tunnel. The class year is 1970.

Now, chances are Brady has already bought a new ring. However, I think we should try and find him anyway. What do ya say?

I'm a member of the Association. I'm on it!



edit: No one by that name in the system. Are we sure of the spelling?

I don't see that name in the online directory on AggieNetwork.com

Class of '70, he may not even be alive anymore. Granted that he would not be all that old, but there is an outside chance he is gone.

Also, I did a quick check of a database and according to their info there is no Brady Tunnel with a driver license in Texas, Florida,
Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio or Wisconsin.

Maybe the association has some current information on him??

In fact, there is no one in the former students directory with the last name of Tunnel and co '70.

How about searching 68-72? Many an Ag didn't graduate when they were supposed to...

if he's c/o '70 he's probably around 60-ish years old...??

try Turner instead of Tunnel

The closest is a co '69 Tunnell and a co '74 Tunnell (both with two "L"s).

However, if this person didn't graduate, they may not have ended up in the former students directory.

I see two possibilities here:

1) The ebay seller is lying about the name.

2) Brady Tunnel got his ring, but for some reason never graduated and then decided he didn't want his ring since he never graduated.

once we find him...or someone who we think is him.....who's gonna be the person to contact them?

I just called the Brady Police Department. They do not have any tunnels in their town; however, they do have a couple of underpasses.

There's the third possibility that he got his ring, dropped out of school, joined the Army, and died in Vietnam.

Glad to see others have been contacting this seller ESPECIALLY AFTER THE GB WAS SUCH A PITA ABOUT IT WHEN I POSTED IT ORIGINALLY!

That's the same name the seller gave me. I've contacted the Association but haven't heard back yet. My searches for names have yielded nothing so far.

Then someone should at least be able to look at an old Aggieland and locate him in Corps listings as a junior.

Looks like there was a Brady Tunnel in Galveston in the 60s, at least, according to the Google news archive.
