yeah, I know, history sucks, but we're running out of possiblilites in classes where there are seats and he hasn't been officially admitted into his chosen major, so forcing him in may not be a possiblity
son is very bright... just not experienced in registration yet. He's been advised by his Aggie sis not to take history at A & M, but is running out of options
you don't take core classes at A&M cause its usually cheaper and slightly easier at JUCOs. if he's a frosh, tell him to get some harder stuff out of the way.
106 was easy for me. It's US history from the reconstruction to the present. It'll be a big class, but as long as he makes an effort to meet the prof, he shouldn't have a problem getting help if he needs it. My 106 only required the main text book and 1 outside reading.
Best thing I could tell you is to let him do it on his own. He's never going to learn if you're helping him every step of the way. If he needs help, he should go into his advisor. I was in a situation this semester to where I had to take a bunch of core classes and yes they suck. However, if you just put the time and effort into them they are not really that bad. That's just the way it works sometimes and you just have to deal with it.
one of the most basic US History classes is what he wants...they require the fewest books and least outside readings.
Any of the "History of..." or "Historical Perspective of" classes will drive him nuts! Daughter was a history major and lots of her classes needed 5+ books!
Just make him take 105 or 106. He's going to have to take it at some point, anyways, so you might as well get them out of the way. I liked 106 more because I love WWII. I can't stand studying about the colonial times.
