Will be moving to Dallas in January and Im looking for a 2 bedroom apartment in the Addison area for me and my roomate. Were both 23 and would like to live the fun part of town. Our offices are close to the Galleria and would like to be somewhat close to work. Weve heard to check in Addison Circle or maybe Uptown as well. Any suggestions?

Both of those are good suggestions, but it really depends on how much you make. Both are fun areas, but a lot more expensive than other places in North Dallas.

There are a lot of nice apartment complexes around Montfort on both sides of Belt Line. Addison Circle is awesome and there are bars and restuarants in the little town square. However, a coworker of mine lives there and although she likes it, it is really noisy and a lot of the apartments are small.

Uptown is really fun, but you'll pay almost twice what you would for a place further north. If you can afford it, it's worth it though b/c there are lots of fun bars in that area and you could walk home.

Which area provides the best atmosphere? Im from Houston myself and dont know too much about the Dallas area. Being young with little other expenses were not as concerned with price, as long as its nothing outrageous.

How about an efficiency with no washer/dryer connections in Addison Circle for $650? Thats what I was quoted before I walked out of there.

This past summer we interned and lived in Midtown in Houston. We lived at the Post which the apartments were not anything spectacular but we loved being able to walk to the bars and be in the center of the party.

I have a friend who lives in Addison... 1 bed that was quite large, w/d hook ups, and a garage spot...He's paying $680.

It was off of Montfort, South of Beltline... right behind "Uncle Julio's" restaurant.

That actually would be about 4 blocks north of beltline.

IMO, Addison Circle is way overpriced for what you are getting. You are still going to have to drive to the bar and you are just paying for the "cool" factor. There are a lot of other nicer, bigger places in the Addison area that cost less money.

Richdale (www.richdale.com) has several nice properties (one of which I bet Mack's friend lives in) in the area. They are all nice facilities (the Dorchester less so). I have a 1Br + den in one of their facilities and pay $775. I have friends that live in the Villas at Montfort and it seems that they got a good rate on a 1BR + den. I think they are paying slightly less than I am. It also seems like a nice complex.

As far as living in Addison vs. Uptown, that's up to you. Working in the Galleria area would make me more inclined to live up here. The cost of commuting up and down the toll road from Uptown going to cost you ~$60 a month in addition to the higher rents and gas costs. IMO, Uptown is the better area to live in, it just wasn't worth it for me to commute (more from my hatred of commuting than the actual cost).

Live in Preston Pointe apartments. Loads of fun, if you like hearing spanish all day and can't talk to your neighbors. Living in the hood is fun!

Ya, we actually both took jobs in Dallas. And no, we're not "roomates", good try though.

I went the Preston Greens route. It allowed me to get in touch with my inner ghetto. By the time I moved out I had corn rows, a closet full of throwbacks, 2 illlegitimate children and plastic "rims" from Walmart on my wheels.

I work right across from the Galleria, but live in Uptown. The drive is nothing in the morning as you are going against traffic (everybody headed downtown). The opposite is true in the evening.

Uptown is much more fun to live in than Addison is. You can walk to over 20+ bars as well as the American Airlines Center for games.

Uptown is going to be much better to live in than the Village if you can afford it because you wouldn't be messing with the hell that is 75/635 on your way to the Galleria.

It takes me about 12-15 minutes to get to work and back home and there is only 1 toll booth between Uptown and the Galleria, so you can figure about $40 a month in tolls.

Try Lakeview at Parkside on Spring Valley. Seconds away from Addison. I had a huge one bedroom apartment with washer and dryer for $680/month. Good community as well. My girlfriend lives in the Circle and parking sucks donkey half the time.

I'm living in an efficiency just outside of uptown for 816/month. Granted, it's big enough to be a one bedroom, it just lacks the dividing wall. it has nice features, such as stainless appliances and big bathtubs and a parking garage. the two bedrooms seem really reasonable, and it's in a great location just down from greenville on henderson ave. www.eastonapts.com

I lived in the Dorchester at Montfort and Spring Valley from '97-00, and it was pretty nice back then. At the time, it was as nice as any others around there, and was a tad cheaper than some of the high end compadres. It always had a waiting list.

lots of hot chicks lived there too. in fact, i ended up marrying one of them.

Uptown is the way to go. I'm in Post Uptown Village. I like the ability to walk and take cabs if I so desire.

Post Addison Circle is my choice.

I lived in a one bedroom for under $700 in 2003. Now live in Post in Houston.

Probably smaller than most but can't beat the experience. It's just across the tollway from a bunch of bars besides the one or two they have on location. Also have pretty sweet pool parties.

However Addison cops are a bunch of biotches. Got pulled over twice driving 0.5 miles from bars to apartment. Never got a ticket,... apparently I was never drunk enough for them.
If you do get arrested in Addison, the police station is actually attached to Post Addison Circle come to think of it.

Had another buddy live in Sexony (think that was the name). It was a pretty nice place as well.
