They may have more experience with different locations than you do, and they also may get special pricing. The first point is probably their biggest asset since good deals can be found on the web. Also, they are free to you. I've only used one once, but I had a good experience.

So I dont have to do a thing. Call them and tell them where I am going. Everything else is done for me.

This lady I talk to in Fort Worth knows the places I wnat to go and has really good info. I mentioned an area for my honeymoon and she got me an incredible place that was good priced. She knows her stuff. most times I do it myself if it is plain and dry reservation or I been to the area but going somewhere new, I will call her.

I don't use them, but I've started to consider it. It's getting harder and harder to actually find useful information online. So much of it is out of date or too cluttered to make sense out of it. I think the internet is getting less useful.

Most travel agents have the inside track on private airlines that are not listed on the web sites i.e. Fun Jet. These flights are usually half price. Also, a travel agent can be your best friend if something goes wrong on your vacation. All you have to do is call them and let them hash out the problem, saves you the hassel.

Travel agents/agencies are decreasing in number and business is dropping FAST due to the internet.

I prefer to do my own vacation...I need a ride there and a place to sleep that isn't dirty. The internet is good enough for that.

As far as things to do, it is much more fun to research them on your own...
