Ok, so I finally ate at one yesterday coming back to BCS. Why is this place so popular? The service sucked and the food was mediocre...I'd take Cotton Patch or even Black Eyed Pea over it.

We ate there for a late lunch...and no, not bashing chain restaurants (for once)...just don't see the hype...there are better chains than this

The breakfast is great, but if you got lunch or dinner it is just average.

How can it be overrated? It is a chain restaurant that specializes in serving crappy food to white trash. That is like saying Motel6 or Wal-Mart is overrated.

Yup...they have great breakfasts. If you're not going to eat breakfast there, just keep driving.

we had breakfast at Mrs USMCAg's grandmother's house....somehow, I think that beats anything Cracker Barrel could serve

Baked Fish Almondine and Cucumber salad are good from Luby's. Period

I prefer Furr's to Luby's, but both are good.

Cracker Barrel has had great food every time I've been, though Cotton Patch and Black Eyed Pea are also great.

I'll usually go to Cracker Barrel when travelling because you're more likely to find them than the others, plus they have some pretty neat stuff (especially old toys I remember growing up) in the store.

Cracker Barrel? THey should call is Butter Barrel. Last time I ate there everything was swimming in butter.

Luby's was much better before Pappas bought it.

Yup. I went there with my team many, many years ago, probably 9 years or so, and it was absolutely HORRIBLE. Everybody else seemed to enjoy it but I hated it. They couldn't even cook a burger and fries correctly. Since then I have not eaten a single bite from one of their restaurants. There have been times I've been with a group and they've wanted to go there and I'm absolutley starving, but I either convince them to go somewhere else or I just sit there while they eat. Mind you, I'm starving while doing this, and for me I need food or I get sick, but I refuse to eat there ever again.

Concur. After hearing people go on and on about how good it was, I stopped at one on 35 in Lewisville last year for breakfast. Terrible food, worse service, and more old people than a cemetery...

my grandmother loved their chicken and dumplings, they were the closest thing to homemade you could buy. it was her last meal at a restaurant before she died.

Because I wanted a burger dammit. When I was 12 I didn't care for chicken fried steaks and stuff, I liked stuff I was comfortable with just like any other 12y/o.
