My wife didn't understand when I wanted to name my son a name that wasn't in the top 10.
Most people just don't get it when it comes to names. Everyone wants to name their kid an unusual name, that's why the names change. How many people in their 30's do you know named Jacob? It's because parents in their late 20's early 30's name a baby based on what was not common in their generation.
My sons name, born in 2004, was 84th, and 130th depending on the spelling. And yes, Colin with 2 l's was less common than LL's. Damn Collin county! You average the 2, and it's 54th.
