I think we have all learned a valuable lesson.

Dozens of people just spent thousands of dollars on jobs that mean nothing more than resume padding.

The guy that won is always the guy with the coolest sign. That red box "C" really stood out this year. No doubt that is why he won.

Carlson won with 67.92% of the total votes cast according to the Batt.

I'd say that was pretty much a slam-dunk.

wow...that means he managed to swipe pretty much ALL of the 5000 or so votes that were cast for someone other than those two candidates in the first election. Impressive.

I think it had something to do with this mail call in tuesday's batt:

http://www.thebatt.com/news/2005/04/05/Opinion/Mail-Call.Sbp.Candidates.Endorse.Carlson-912607.shtml
quote:
Our fellow students at Texas A&M never cease to surpass expectations. Not only has this year's student body president election been noteworthy for the number of students who volunteered to take on the responsibilities associated with obtaining and faithfully fulfilling the office, but it is also noteworthy for the number of students who have taken the initiative to decide the direction that they want A&M to go by casting a ballot for their candidate.

We represent different backgrounds, viewpoints and directions for A&M. It has been our honor to work with students to affect change and raise dialogue on this campus. Despite any differences that we may have over the issues, one thing that we all agree upon is our support for Jim Carlson in the run-off election. We believe that he is the best choice for the students at Texas A&M, and we recommend that you vote for him.

Doug Martin, Class of 2005
Jordan Mullins, Class of 2005
Kelsey Walker, Class of 2005
Scott Smith, Class of 2005
Terry Gage, Class of 2005
Greg King, Class of 2005

All but 1 of the canidates that didn't make the runoffs threw their support behind Jim, and it looks like it made quite a difference.
