Anyone know where to find a recipe for mexican green dip like the type they have at Ninfas or Los Cucos?

If it's for a party or something, go and pick yourself up a quart at Los Cucos or Ninfa's, and claim it as your own.

Problem solved.

Not really for a party, just got done mowing the yard and wanted to make some salsa, kick back, watch some tv and have some beers. Lately Ive been experimenting with diffent types of salsa, wanted something similar to that for a change.

In that case, no, I do not have a recipe, but I freaking love the stuff.

The roach droppings are what makes Los Cucos's so good.

Do you have a small child still in diapers. I hear that gooey diaper waste looks an awful lot like the stuff.

I don't know but there is a columnists for the San ANtonio Express News that you can email/write for restaurant recipes, and every wednesday she publishs the recipe you asked for.

I have emailed her a couple times and she got what I wanted. Most notably how to make the chicken and cheese chile rellenos from Chuy's, but unfortunately Chuy's wouldn't give the recipe for any of their sauces.

here is a link to the site and you can search all the old recipes, or email her and ask.

One of the girls in the office brought some today for the Halloween party that was pretty simple. Combine ranch dressing, garlic salt and jalapeno juice until it tastes like you want it to. I'm sure you could add some other ingredients (avocados, sour cream, cilantro, etc) until you get it right.

google is your friend:

Ninfa's Green Sauce
Source: Ninfa's

This sauce is popular in many Mexican Restaurants in Houston. Ninfa's was one of the first restaurants to serve this sauce. It's served with salsa and chips before your meal.

3 medium avocados
3 medium green tomatoes
4 fresh tomatillos
3 cloves garlic
2 or 3 sprigs cilantro
1 or 2 jalapenos
1 1/2 cups sour cream
Salt to taste

Peel avocados and place them in a blender. In a medium saucepan, boil tomatoes, tomatillos, garlic, and jalapenos for 15 minutes.

Remove from saucepan and place all ingredients in a blender with the avocados. Add sour cream and blend until smooth.

Not really relevant, but I bought some peach and pineapple salsa at Tom Thumb today and coupled with some lime-flavored Tostidos it is what they call da bomb.
