I first came by this listening to Delta Spirit's "Ballad of Vitaly" which is really remarkably written on its own and even greater having the perspective of the entire incident.

"Interesting" may be a better word choice. I did read the whole article about the incident and then about the murder of the ATC.

OP here. Yeah that's going to be my bad on the thread title.

I did a deep dive and the story is just wild to me. That incident changed procedures for pilots worldwide with regard to instructions from ATC. Everything down to the broken pearl necklace was included in the movie "Aftermath" starring Arnold Swartzennager.
