Lifelong bike rider here and will be doing North Carolina backwoods on the CRF all next week.

I follow several motorcycle youtubers (Adam Reimann, Common Tread, Ryan F9, Yammie, etc..). I have been following Noraly for several years now and have been amazed at some of the parts of the world she travels and I find her pretty impressive actually.

She is in China right now but back when she was in Africa, my son was deployed with his ODA (3rd Group) in the same area.

His team couldn't believe she was traveling solo in that part of the world and he thinks she has some kind of governmental help with her safety.

Noraly was even given permission to pass through 100% cartel controlled areas in Mexico a couple seasons ago.

I am curious if any of yall follow her and your thoughts. Is it simply because she is so famous? She has a guardian angel that is putting in overtime? Or does she have some kind of contacts/fixers?

What kind of bike do you ride? What's the CRF?

I have a few bikes. My Honda CRF 250L is my dual-sport and actually probably my favorite bike I have ever owned and I have owned plenty.

I recently sold my BMW GS and my Enfield 650 and I have a Enfield 411 Scrambler for longer trips and a Honda Grom for zipping around town.

I prefer on/off road bikes (dual/sport) that I can go anywhere with.

What about you?

I lived in Virginia for a bit. Started out with a 750 Honda Shadow. Ended up with a Harley Road King Classic. Loved riding in Virginia and W Virginia.

However, moved back to Texas and 70 mph on backroads wasn't fun, nor was the heat. lol. Sold the bike many years ago.

I get it.

I am looking forward to hitting the trails in NC next week with cooler temperatures.

I have a couple of longer rides planned but not until it cools off some. I love to go moto-camping but sleeping in a tent when it's hot is not the most fun…

Metal….

Are you going to drive the Tail of the Dragon? If not, I would strongly recommend it. 11 miles, 318 curves. On the border of North Carolina and Tennessee. It's crazy.

Oh, I'm familiar with it but we will be on dual sports (street legal dirt bikes) and off road is really our thing. We ride road to get to the trails and back. BDR type stuff.

Have watched some but not all her vids. sounds like she makes contacts beforehand, probably has emergency fixers.

watching the recent ones where she travels in china along the north korean border, it would seem she did not give chinese officials a full rundown of her plans beforehand, which is probably what led them to following her for awhile

guardian angel? must have taken a day off when she crashed and broke her collarbone, prematurely ending her african tour

i think the world just isn't as dangerous as the news makes it out to be. vast majority of it is just people living their lives, trying to provide for their families, have a few laughs with friends, etc

All good...thanks for your reply! Hope you have a great time!

Yep,

It was very strange that someone lifted the gate for her and allowed her to continue on that border road.

The worst part of her collar bone mishap was the surgery in Holland accidentally puncturing her lung…sheesh.

As far as the world not being as dangerous as people think, I think it depends. Yes, the majority of people are just trying to live life but there are certain areas, more than people know, that are extremely dangerous.

Obviously just depends on location and the group of people you run into.

I know she met an armed cartel roadblock way up in the mountains on a backroad that they obviously use to traffic certain products and they let her pass. The group of Mormons down there were not so fortunate…

yikes! i haven't seen the cartel episode(s) what happened to the mormons?

now if you want to see a trainwreck of a travelogue, watch 'wreck trek'. group of young adults try to drive from germany to south africa, completely unprepared for anything with next to no planning

A group of Mormons, including women and children, were murdered by cartel gunmen on a backroad in Mexico. I forget details but I'm sure it can be googled.

That episode sounds awesome! I love it

I imagine that she hires "fixers" to get things done, but she also wouldn't be able to do these things if she didn't have such a following online. Imagine she is on that trip and gets gunned down by a Cartel. The public backlash woud bring down a lot of unwanted attention there. So much so that certain governments might be compelled to get involved.

It's much easier for them to just let her pass through and not touch her. Then business goes back to normal and you can wipe out a family of Mormons and no one bats an eye.
