Didn't sleep great in this hotel in Fort Worth. Concert I attended last night was worth it.

Finished a 2 mile walk before 9:30. Boy toy came over for some bed rollin, breakfast, and a trip to Bucees. We sat on the sofa talking for hours. He seems like such a good dude. It was a great Sunday.

On Wednesday evening my used (new to me) HP Z2 G4 Mid-Tower Workstation arrived. It is:

Intel Core i9-9900 i5-9500 until USPS delivers the i9
32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 2666MHz Unbuffered Memory (as fast as HP will allow)
2TB M.2 NVMe Solid State Drive and 500 GB M.2 NVMe Solid State Drive
4GB AMD Radeon RX 560X GPU (would like to replace this, but will take big $$$)
Integrated Intel I219-LM 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet (will likely never be used)
Integrated Conexant CX20632 5.1 High-Definition Audio
HP 500W 90% Efficient Power Supply (very nice PSU for a major PC manufacturer)
Debian Linux 13.5 with xfce/Microsoft Windows 11 Pro (came preinstalled, so I'm dual-booting)

It's much nicer than the HP Pavilion I had been using. The i5 I'm, temporarily, using has six cores instead of four like the Pavilion CPU had. This allows to me to give my Windows VMs four cores instead of two, and they're much more responsive. The i9 that is supposed to arrive tomorrow has eight cores and sixteen threads.

Good times!!

I had to look it up. There is indeed a Nederland, Texas. It's not exactly any 8,000 feet above sea level.

Between getting new hardware, making a few upgrades, and installing operating systems, this has been a blast for me. I wish someone would pay me to do this type of thing for them. I very much enjoy it.

IT shouldn't be relegated to a "Nerdery!!"
