Sunny day to break up days of overcast here in west Georgia/east Alabama. Temps start getting back to normal (60s) .

A good day starts with good coffee.

- Cheeseburger and fries planned for lunch today.
- And I did not win the Powerball Lottery last night, and neither did anyone else.

- Awake early for travel day!
- Packed a HUGE suitcase with lots of cute clothes. Pretty out of character of my regular minimalist packing.
- I'm so excited I'm not even dreading the drive to Omaha. Yuck.

Went to be around 11pm. Later than planned but I slept like a dead person until 4:50am and then tacked on another 30 minutes after that.

7am meeting was good. Not sure if the 10am is happening. I need to do some actual work and not just be in meetings this week!

Trying to plan what we are doing for Christmas. Hosting? Going to Houston? Going to Galveston?

Need to buy gifts!

We need new bath towels. It's been a while and ours have had it. Anybody recommend some bath towels they can't live without? Otherwise I'm probably gonna get some Better Homes and Gardens towels from Wallyworld and call it good.

Old towels will get donated to the animal shelter for dog drying.

I don't have a whole lot to do at work this month. December is always our slow time. Yesterday, I was supposed to generate a weekly report but our server had a keyring issue, and I couldn't download the source data for it. The network folks weren't able to fix the issue and have opened a case with the vendor. My report is considered late if not completed and placed on the customer's server by 4 PM CST today. If it's part of our Service Level Agreement (SLA), then I might be contacted and asked about it (and they'll quickly accept that it was out of my control). If it isn't part of the SLA, no one will care. We look the other way on anything not in the SLA.

The only point of any of this is that I loathe the corporate world, compliance people, and SLAs. Applied for a job at MU last week. It would be very nice to be back in my element.

Oh dears! Deadlines that must be met and deliverables that must be delivered!

No endless Christmas parties and holiday celebrations and team building exercises and whatever!

Yeah. That's how the world moves. Academia drives me nuts sometimes.

Do you work at A&M?

I worked at A&M from 1996 to 2013. Tanya and I moved to Missouri in August 2013, and I still reside here (Columbia). I loved working for A&M, but I was very eager to get out of Aggieland. It was an awesome place to go to college, but I stayed too long. I really don't like what it's become.

I'm happy to be in Missouri. It's a beautiful state, and I love the four season climate. I've about had enough of Columbia. But I could see myself in Kansas City (or even Springfield) long-term.

I went deer hunting in Missouri one year on a work sponsored trip. It was actually near Springfield and the area was prettier than I expected.

I graduated in 2010 but I couldn't see staying in College Station. My dad worked for the Kiewit mining company and I was lucky enough to get an internship and move back to Wyoming in 2011. Sometimes I wish I was still with them.

Forecast to be sunny and 53F today. Will be the warmest day since at least Thanksgiving. Need to enjoy part of it outside.

Without midweek college football, I watch movies from Starz at night. I watched one Friday night called "Looper" that was outstanding. Been a run of stinkers since then. After last night's "Philadelphia Experiment II," I think I'm about ready to switch from Starz to Cinemax.

My cat Lucy is on the bed next to me and is snoring. She's done that since she was a kitten ten years ago.

I moved to College Station in 1990, and it was this little hick town with a strange charm to it. And man was everything CHEAP. It was a terrific place to be a broke college kid (and I was living in a non-air dorm).

IMO, it peaked about 25 years ago and has turned into mile after mile of strip mall hell since then. I loved visiting in August, but it also made me happy that I no longer live there. 23 years was too long. I absolutely hate what Northgate is turning into.

I remember moving there when I was 12 years old in 1996. It was way different when I got out of the military in 2006 but it was still pretty cheap to live there.

I found the bulldog on a walk. Luckily I carry a little 550 cord for the occasion. 3 dogs makes for a tangled mess. No microchip. He's back home now.

I think it was Facebook since he called me directly. I also posted him on Nextdoor, pawboost, and submitted a form to Aggieland Humane.

Okay, that bird feeder is AWESOME. But you wouldn't like the scratch off tickets that I'd buy. They would have to be redeemed one state south in Missouri.
