Anyone had those under eave LED lights installed at your house?

A couple of neighbors have had this done and it looks really cool. Lights are programmable so they both have red white and blue patterns going right now.

Just wondering about the cost. Seems like strips of LED lights can be bought pretty cheaply. But the installation and programming might be more than I'd like to bite off.

Anyone had it done and how much did it run?

I was kind of interested because it seemed an easy way to get a 2-story permanently setup for different holidays. But, my wife's opinion was that they looked like crap.

We put up some Govee lights and they stopped working entirely after less than a year.

I have them - installed in 2019 if I remember correctly. One person in our neighborhood installed them and then it became infectious and now several homes have them.

Happened in our neighborhood as well. The house 4 spots down has them on constant running effect with a variety of colors. Looks like rave there at night

I agree with your wife. I was researching different exterior lighting options years back (up lighting, soffit lighting, landscape lighting, pathway lighting, etc.) and there is definitely an art to choosing the correct lighting to compliment your home. Done right, it's a thing of beauty and is really classy looking. But it's definitely not as easy as just putting lights everywhere.

I read an article talking about how you want the lights to softly accentuate your homes feature, not look like an alien space craft landing on your yard. The LED strips are of the alien space craft variety in my opinion. To each their own.

I do like them for Holidays however. But even then, I prefer actual strands of Christmas lights. Just more classic looking IMO.

"Space ship" look the article was talking about. It's all I can think about now when I see it.

Yeah the 6,000sqft house looks better than the 2000sqft ones.

Other ones should have accentuated their features like the metal garage door or not being a mobile home.

lol yeah the lighting isn't the only difference

That's funny I thought the same thing. Those pics are from the article. But their point still stands

I installed them on my home and really like the options. It is very easy to "program" with a ton of presets available.

I used Govee, and they have lasted a couple years now without issue.

I know someone who had them installed, payed the vendor well, the lights look great, but the trades that did the install noted where her security cameras were and broke into their house like a week later. She was really upset and I think she had even tipped the trades that were out there.

Yeah, those are hideous.

Very tacky. It's a dumb fad that needs to die. For people that complain about HOAs, this is an area where a GOOD HOA can prove it's worth.

ok.. yeh those aren't even the same thing are they?

The 'nice' one is ground lighting pointed upwards isn't it?
VS the LED in the eves pointing down... and I can't say I've ever seen it done like that.. ONE light every 5 feet making a huge triangle? I hope they only paid about $50 at walmart for those strands and it isn't a professional install.

This is more how they look in my hood.
