Had the family over last weekend for BBQ. Dessert was hot brownies with Blue Bell ice cream.

Had an even amount of each.

Daughter # 2 takes a small sliver of brownie and 4 scoops of ice cream. I think my daughter in law did the same. Ice cream was gone before the last 2 people got any.

Well played?

Need to buy more Blue Bell next time.

Damn kids….

Wifey says it's perfectly normal to take extra ice cream.

I'm gonna miss her.

If you employed better help, they would have divided and served the food properly.

Why didn't you just say "wait until everyone has had some ice cream"?

One scoop per one average size piece of cake. If not cake you still get one scoop of ice cream. More if there's any leftover. This isn't hard.

Why do you think people buy Blue Bunny for birthdays? Its not for the cute name - it's so people don't take all the ice cream!

Just imagine what would have happened if you had used actually GOOD ice cream like Tillamook or Creamy Creations.

Non serious answer: the help should have prepared equal servings.

Serious answer: always buy more ice cream. Why? It take no prep time, stays good in a freezer for months, and is more popular than a brownie for various reasons.

Lastly, switch to a higher quality brand of ice cream for a better dessert experience.

It's OK to take more ice cream than brownie, or even only ice cream and no brownie.

It's not OK to take more than your share of something before everyone has had a chance to have some. If there are 10 people and 16 brownies, take 1 to start. Taking 3 of the 16 brownies is unfair. It's a little harder to measure out with ice cream, but 4 scoops is excessive.

Tell the others to be first in line next time. No one will survive the next Great Depression.

It should be one scoop of ice cream per brownie. Also, regardless of what type of food, everyone should be conscious of how much food they take so that everyone can have some. At the next family dinner make them go last since they are unable to do this on their own.

Always buy more food than you think you will need. People are disgusting fat pigs. Plus what is wrong with having leftovers you can gorge yourself on? For example, yes I can buy two Costco pizzas for my family of 5 and that is plenty, but I buy 3 so I can eat a couple of slices later that night and sometimes the next day.

This is the root cause.

Also, OP is a liar.

Thread topic says cake. Post says brownie.

This isn't a dessert problem….it's a parenting problem. Somewhere along the way, the lesson of "don't hoard all the damn ice cream" got lost, and now you're dealing with a full-blown dessert free-for-all. At this point, your only options are a strict rationing system, mandatory etiquette lessons, or buy more f'ing ice cream next time because it's obvious these girls saw the Blue Bell, did the math, and decided fairness was someone else's problem.

I buy the little Blue Bell cups for parties. Much easier to deal with than a bunch of people trying to scoop ice cream

When I was in Boy Scouts, we once had a campout where families were invited for dinner, where people made foil dinners (putting a bunch of meat and veg in a foil packet then cooking on a fire) on basically an assembly line basis. I was Senior Patrol Leader and went through the line last. My foil dinner consisted of potatoes.
