Am I the only one that is offended by this?

I am a guy and have not seen the pictures but it seems like the wrong message to send.

These women have worked extremely hard to reach the top of their sport and then they pose for playboy. So life just boils down to sex and money.

I feel for my newborn duaghter. In this day and age if a woman is successful at something they are then in playboy. This is why women are and always will be sex objects.

And don't tell me it is art or something like that. It is porn.

Lumberjack- then teach your daughter that she is more than just that. Teach her that being an athlete or a lawyer or a firewoman or a police officer are all great professions. Give her trucks in addition to dolls. Don't limit her to these limitations that we put on women and girls.

Didn't they had out a gagilion condoms to the athletes? That's either extreme paranoia about cross-continental disease epidemics or these athletes really love to get it on!

And I don't really see why this is more offensive than anyone else posing nude for horny men. Ultimately its their choice and apparently they want to be an object of sexual desire. At least they probably got paid better than the majority of Playmates.

Yeah, I got the issue last week. It wasn't worth looking at. My bf's roommate threw it away, and he's a perpetual horndog.

Quite frankly I very much prefer to see natural, athletic bodies than the silicone-enhanced ones that normally grace the pages of rags such as Playboy.

Who cares what their motivation is, they can do as they please. I think it would be much healthier for people to see the athletic female form as normal rather than the surgically enhanced variant.

I'll take this over any surgical starlet anyday:



Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of boobs, in fact I prefer a chick be a little thicker than too thin, but I like athletic the best.

I agree with Bobcat. I have a 1 yr old daughter and I subscribe to Playboy. Would I like to see her in it? Hell, no!! But we have to teach our daughters there are other alternatives. Playboy had a Women of Walmart, too. Where's the outrage in that?

let's be honest. These women have worked very very hard for several years in training... to perfect their bodies. They have run, lifted wieghts, practiced, whatever, to make their bodies into machines. it is natural that they want to show it off.

Agreed. And sexual preference comes into play on many of them. Not that there's anything wrong with that [/GB].

You may not like it, but male athletes make a lot more money than the female athletes. It maybe sad, but this is one of the few ways that these women get to make money. In a year, there career is over and they do not get to capitalize on their athletism like men do.

Mary Lou Retton is all over the Sprint PCS website and still does commercials. A lot of other women athletes get legitimate endorsements from Nike etc. and make some serious scratch from them...

Wonder what the other olympic athletes get. Do the Chinese women get a bigger loaf of bread once a week?

You name one woman athlete that makes good money. Bruce Jenner makes money still too, so does Mark Spitz. Point is Men get more prize money in every sport Golf, Tennis, Track & Field and have more opportunities to do it. They also get twice as many endorsement opportunities.

I don't think that playboy objectifies women at all. Now, magazines like hustler and penthouse are straight up porn, but playboy is actually good photography. The women are shown as pillars of beauty, godesses among men. They don't look at all like "living sex toys."

You'd never see a comment like the initial post in any other country.
