I've heard it mentioned as such a few times over the years. I don't know if I agree with it

As someone who grew up in central texas, I 100% agree that BCS IS in East Texas. Once you hit that pine curtain east of Bastrop, you're officially in East Texas.

It is NOT East Texas. There's not nearly enough meth.

Wiki:

Quote:

Central Texas is a region in the U.S. state of Texas roughly bordered on the west by San Saba to the southeast by Bryan and the south by San Marcos to the north by Hillsboro. Central Texas overlaps with and includes part of the Texas Hill Country and corresponds to a physiographic section designation within the Edwards Plateau, in a geographic context.

Central Texas includes the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood, BryanCollege Station, Waco metropolitan areas and AustinRound Rock (also part of the Capital region).

Nope.

Having lived in both BCS and East Texas, BCS is in no way, shape, or form a part of East Texas.

The pine forest around Bastrop isn't sustained as you move Northeast through Lee and Burleson County and into Brazos County. In this area you primarily see a mixture of Rolling Prairie, Hardwood Forest and Post Oak Savannah. There are only isolated pockets of Pine trees.

The pines around Bastrop are literally called the Lost Pines because they are out of place, its not east Texas.

I love Bastrop County though. It's got some nice topography in places with a unique blend of different terrain.

Another note: Pine forest gets thick after you leave Brazos County and head into eastern Grimes/western Montgomery Counties. The Plantersville/Dobbin/Magnolia area

There are parts of Bastrop County that are nice. Bastrop itself is turning into East Austin.

This is the same argument as on the West Texas board. I argue, following esteemed Texas historian (and alumnus of my high school-Ranger High School) Walter Prescott Webb that anything west of the 98th Meridian is subject to water shortage in North America, hence,in Texas is west Texas. Others argue that you don't really get into West Texas until you around ugly Midland/Odessa. East Texas is objectively part of the southern pine forest, ranging from North Carolina westward to well, East Texas.

By that logic, since I'm from the RGV and drove 400 miles, College Station is in North Texas.
