It went corporate and moved to San Antonio, then sold out completely to Yankees. Worse than the fall of freebirds.

How do you not know this? It's a common topic when making the rounds at Chili's.

All I know is the one by me used to have quite possibly the fastest drive thru known to man. About a year ago I ended up sitting there for nearly 45 min, totally blocked in otherwise I would have peaced out. Have not been back to any of them since.

Lots were already bad before the sale and now many more are. I had a #5 a few weeks ago from the one in Lindale that was as good as the old days. I was shocked.

Almost all customer service sucks these days bc of the work force in them being so young: millennial managers and Gen a workers.

I went to one in Kansas City in September, and it was outstanding. First time I'd been to a Whataburger in over 30 years.

Tried to go through the drivethru at one in Austin today and you had to either go order through their kiosk inside or thru the app, and drive thru lane was pickup only. I drove on out and went somewhere else.

My experience with the one in Bastrop is that if I order ahead via the app, they don't start on my order until I show up and check in. Then they put my order in line behind everybody currently in line in the drive thru. So there is no time benefit at all to ordering ahead via the app, and their drive thru is too slow to want to sit through.

It's 2024 and they've managed to f-up whataburger.

An unbelievable course of events.

Eat there maybe once or twice a year while on the road and watched the steady decline.

Now you go in there and the employees are disoriented and disorganized like it's their first day on the job.

It's inconceivable that they could find a way to ruin wataburger but they've done it.

Almost every fast food chain has gone downhill since the start of covid. It's the workforce and the problem is the non-stop turnover. As soon as you train somebody to learn how to work efficiently and get everything right, they get offered 20 cents more an hour by Jack In The Box and go over there (or they have their parole revoked and go back to prison).

The Chicago people have mostly kept the same menu and local Whataburgers are still run by the local franchisees.

Don't even really consider Whataburger anymore when going for fast food. The lines are insanely slow and the burgers haven't been good. The last few burgers we got came with dried out buns and didn't seem to taste like they used to.

We were there yesterday after not going for a while, the buns are definitely different.

I've also noticed they assemble the burger cheese down now.

This is what happens when a company passes into the hands of bean-counters and professional CEOs.

Here is how they do it. All they want to do is "maximize shareholder value" (something many on this board shout about a lot) and that always means a bad deal to the customer. The company shows higher profits because of lowered costs (due to cutting corners) even though the revenue has remained the same or reduced. Share price goes up because people look at profits that are temporarily juiced. The CEO gets a huge bonus and is lauded as a turnaround expert. He gets a sexy offer from another company and he leaves. The bad decisions eventually catch up as customers stop coming and the new CEO comes in and has to clean up the mess. Usually he fails and the company shuts down.

I don't know what the solution is, maybe there is none, but let's not pretend that these scam artists are any good.

It doesn't matter what the restaurant. Once the company gets large enough for the beancounters and the marketing folks to take control from operations, the ultimate failure is inevitable. The only question is how long it takes. The amazing thing is the same execs who run one company into the ground are grabbed up by another company to do the same thing just as soon as they are out on the street due to making bad decision after bad decision. These guys always land on their feet, going from one golden parachute to another.

And for the record, I've always hated Chick-fil-A's waffle fries. They are the reason I'll drive right past them and head for Wendy's if I'm hungry for a chicken sandwich. I did really like Chick-fil-A's cole slaw back in the day, but they in explicably took it off the menu.

Fast food burgers. I had 5 Guys after about 10 years and loved it. Very expensive though, for just a burger and fries, it came up to $20. No drink. This is fast food. Thanks Biden. Take my money and give it to the Ukranians, Pakistanis and Venezuelans.

Yes. That is because these execs are one big clique. All buddies scratching each other's backs. Hard to get into this clique. Many here harbor dreams of "maybe if I work hard enough, I can also be CEO!". Sorry, no. They just make you think you can so you work yourself to the bone for to make their $10M bonus. How can people be so idiotic that they don't see it? We cannot do anything about it, but let's not walk around with a blindfold.

I've done exactly the same!
I order a Spicy Chicken from CFA and then get fries from the McD next door or drive down to Wendy's some distance away for fries.Love the CFA sauce, I bought extra from Walmart.
