... because this looks f'ing disgusting:
It will be when I start teaching college kids. I don't want to wear that mess for the rest of my academic career.Tecolote said:

Spent 30 years in academia - know more colleagues who wore wtf they wanted or borrowed someone else's because they didn't want to buy or rent. When you order your regalia in your academic career just specify A&M.Ryan the Temp said:It will be when I start teaching college kids. Are you sure you'll get an academic position? They aren't guaranteed if you get a PhD.Ryan the Temp said:It will be when I start teaching college kids. I don't want to wear that mess for the rest of my academic career.Tecolote said:

There's a lot that can happen between now and then, but my plan is to move into academia as an adjunct in about a year or two. A good friend and mentor at A&M has encouraged me not to go the Ph.D. route, but rather to go DMA, since I am first and foremost a performing trombonist. My interest in this Ph.D. program is my desire to fully understand why college students succeed or fail, especially transfer students. I think that could make me a better educator and better equip me to contribute to programs that need improvement.jwoodmd said:Are you sure you'll get an academic position? I went to a school that is part of the UT system so my degree says The University of Texas at the top. It makes me sad every time I get paid for just one second that I have even a weak connection to that horrible institution.
I don't believe there is any school in the A&M system offering a DMA. Not even Kingsville, and that's the strongest music school in the system.UTExan said:Dad said:

Avoid a lifetime of embarrassment by attending a good school with "Texas A&M University System" inscribed across the top of your diploma!
Nope. Each school has its own unique seal design and ring.Anchorhold said:
**** the system. I am embarrassed at Amarillo, kingsville, etc. saying "Texas A&M". They shouldn't get our PUF money either.
They finally shut down Qatar, but now you can spend four years in McAllen and get an Aggie ring? That's bull*****
