Sharks off Brazil coast test positive for cocaine

Marine biologists tested 13 Brazilian sharpnose sharks taken from the shores near Rio de Janeiro and found they tested for high levels of cocaine in their muscles and livers.

The concentrations were as much as 100 times higher than previously reported for other aquatic creatures.

The research, carried out by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, is the first to find the presence of cocaine in sharks.

I sure hope my hard working tax dollars aren't going to coke up a bunch of foreign sharks! We needs to keep our coke and give it to real American sharks not these ****ing loser South American ones!

You misread the article. It was "13 Brazilian" sharks. The grad student research assistants are exhausted.

I mean a Brazilian, maybe 2 makes sense. But 13 Brazilian? The PI was just milking it for time in Rio. If wasn't for the coke, the research boat wouldn't have made it though the trip.
