I couldn't find it on YouTube, but here's the story.
In a small far away village many many years ago a man sought the hand in marriage of another man's daughter. This daughter was not very highly sought after because she was considered homely but the groom saw her value.
The father of the daughter was hoping he might be able to get two chickens, three if he was really, really good in his negotiation.
Rumor had it, but it was so long ago nobody was sure it was really true, that one time a man actually gave an entire ox as a dowry.
When it came time to negotiate the groom, who was not wealthy, offered to give the father five oxen from the very get go.
What a damn fool this man is thought the father and he quickly agreed lest the man change his mind.
60 years later, the family was blessed with a large healthy family, love saturated everywhere, and everyone had an ideal life. The wife blossomed! It was proof that the negotiating groom made a very good choice indeed, or did he "just" have great insight in picking value?
60 years later the bride was asked how come it was that she earned an honorable place in society? That she developed true self-confidence, and the incredible achievements that came from that. Hard working respectful parent honoring children. Why? Why?
She said without arrogance…..
My husband married a five oxen wife.
