Does anyone know where I can get a copy of Jim Rome's take on softball? We are in the next to last division level and getting creamed by these people that bring 2 pairs of cleets to the slow pitch co-ed games, and the girls all wear visors with sleeveless shirts and knee pads. Then the guys take walks with the bases loaded, scoring 2 runs of course. Can you tell I'm frustrated?

Holy Crap! They take advantage of the rules and weak play by their opponents to score runs? How frustrating!

It is frigging weak. If it is C or D league, no dude should be up there taking a walk and then applauding as they go to second. Huge *******.

I've seen "softball guy" on numerous occurances out at the NASA rec leagues. They're usually in their high school baseball uniform, with stirrup socks, hitop cleats, and ripped off sleeves on their shirt. Guys taking guys out at 2nd on double plays (I've seen legs broken, too), guys trying to hit the pitcher to get on base, guys throwing a shoulder on me at first base when I'm trying to stretch a ball out (safety bags in place, too). I usually talk smack to them to let them know how idiotic they look out there in the fun league. They forget that we have jobs and just play for fun.

That's the thing - these teams don't make it fun. It's freakin slow pitch. Anyone can get up there and walk every at bat but what fun is that? They will do anything to "win" and forget that we're out there to have fun. I think they're just pissed that they didn't get a baseball scholarship.

bronson- don't you know that the only reason these guys aren't tearing it up in the show right now is because their high school coach played favorites and kept them on the bench or put them down to the scouts?

Yep, I hate walks in SB. It's one thing if a pitcher is having a bad night and can't get one close or it's real windy, but if it's close and the guy just sits there to "take" a walk, he should be sent packing. I don't walk. I will swing at a bad pitch to give the pitcher another chance b/c I like to hit. I can hit them out of the park, and I want every chance I can get to do it each time I'm up. Strike zones are way too tight in SB. It should be expanded to encourage better hitting skills.

This is exactly why I don't play softball.

That and rheumatoid arthritis. but even without the RA, I still wouldn't play.

"Softball guys" are annoying. They all come dressed in matching uniforms... every member has a baseball bag with $200-$300 bats... they all argue or yell at the umps... and worst of all the freakin' doofuses are all playing in C and D league.

They are all high school "athletes" who never got any further and are trying to make up for it Rec leagues.

They are buffoons but think they are impressing the babes.
