We use to sing the hell outta that song back in 1-2 grade. The nuns made us quit.

I had that on an old mp3 player I had once and got sent to an oil rig off the coast of Australia. Most of the crew was of course local. I had my music playing in the rig warehouse and that song came on, and they thought it was amusing, Australia still being part of the commonwealth.

my dad used to sing that song on road trips when we were little kids. Good times.

My dad passed Feb. 18, 2011 in Andrews, Texas. When I went out to make all funeral arrangements, dad had decided that he wanted to be cremated so we just had a memorial service for him at the funeral home. The funeral home director asked what kind of music dad liked to play during the service. I said he really liked Johnny Horton. So with family and friends gathered, in a quiet moment during the service, The Battle of New Orleans came playing thru the speakers. I just had to smile and I know dad was smiling also.

This was a regular in Bonfire Stack in the late '80's to early '90's.
