Been awhile for me, but just got one of those calls and voicemails from someone I haven't seen since college, asking to call him back to "talk about something".

What pyramid schemes have you been hit with out of the blue by old acquaintances? I learned about a decade ago to ignore those random calls.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

I have several of those. The hot ones do well. The others aren't listing the high dollar properties.

I got a call in the middle of the night in maybe '96 that was a guy that thought I was one of his buddies from the Marines.

Me and the buddy have the same name. In those young days of the World Wide Web, he used whatever people finder site to look up his buddy's number while drunk really late at night.

Hope he found his buddy. And an AA meeting.

My best friends don't even have my number. My wife is the only person I answer phone calls from. I probably get like 10 spam calls a day. I even have a blocker.

I know it's annoying but I always feel really bad for these guys hitting up friends and family for business. We're all just trying to make it out here and I always wonder how it came to this. My first job out of college I was in outside sales cold calling businesses. It wasn't my friends and family but it still sucked.

I sold cemetery plots and pre-arranged funerals. Cold calling people to sell them a product no one wants to buy. That's how i knew sales was definitely not for me.

I had to call a college friend to let him know his ex wife died. She was my sister's best friend (that's how they met) and they had divorced years earlier. She became addicted to pain killers and died in her sleep one night. That was not a fun phone call.

What was his response?

I'm not sure how I would feel if I was told an ex had died. That sucks, but presumably they divorced for a reason.

I'm highly adhd. I often forget to talk to friends for months at a time. I'm sure they have all, at some point, thought I was calling out of the blue to peddle something. The truth is, I don't like most people enough to talk to them, let alone try to better their life with some snake oil.
