As someone who was extremely disappointed by and annoyed with the endless TBS reruns of the 1984 version of Frank Herbert's epic saga, I have to admit I was taken completely by surprise by the 2021 Denis Villeneuve version. I was at my mother's house, helping her around the house after she had been released from rehab following a hip fracture, and I saw the 2021 version. I thought it would be more of the same 80s sci-fi BS, but I was completely wrong.

After returning home, my teenage daughter watched it with me, and being the music nerd that she is, she absolutely fell in love with Hans Zimmer's soundtrack. Now, she and I have been waiting for this release for over a year...I hope all of the hype and reviews are accurate because it's going to be EPIC!

Thufir has been marginalized and is nothing.

The baron is not a psycho monster nor creepy like he is in the text.

I thought Dune 1 was masterful. It ran headlong into the mysticism without going too abstract.

The music was perfection.

It re-introduced magic into technology in sci-fi.

It left you feeling isolated and barren, much like the protagonists.
