What was it before? It must have been pretty irrelevant, because I honestly don't remember. Did it have Fran Tarkenton, Bud Grant, or Mary Tyler Moore on it?

There are a couple others that look good but wouldn't be as good of flags.

F29 and F1154 look good but are a bit too complex to make a great flag. The designs are a bit too intricate.

F2100 checks all the boxes but I'm personally not in love with the wavy line.

I think it's a great looking flag.

Old flag had an Indian on horseback on it. Can't have that anymore. Whitewash history.

Now it looks like something from a video game that you design when picking your faction.

Utah made a new flag recently and many finalists had the same issue as some of these. An elementary school kid should be able to replicate the flag on their own easily.

Definitely beats "Generic State Seal and Name of State on a Blue Field" that they and half the other states had for flags. I don't really like the two-tone blue, but the pacman thing kind of looks like the state's outline. Overall I think Utah and Mississippi both beat them with their recent redesigns but this is an improvement over what Minnesota had before.

Personally I think the new Utah flag has a little too much going on. I like a couple of the other finalists a little better. I think the two on the bottom are a little cleaner.

New flag looks good, though. Huge improvement.

New Mississippi flag looks sharp. I think it'd be better if they went with a simpler magnolia, maybe get rid of the stars, and definitely get rid of "in god we trust.

I like the red yellow blue. Don't see that combo very much so it's distinctive. Just think they tried to squeeze too much in there.

I like these two better (magnolia on the first one is way better, IMO).

Looks way better than their hideous old flag



In fact, at least half the states would benefit from flag redesigns.

About half of states' flags are basically just their coat of arms or seal.

Really enjoyed this TED Talk about city flags.

So many city and region flags are so godawful ugly I can't believe they were ever approved.

For example, behold British Columbia's ugly ass flag that looks like it was designed on Windows 98 Paint.

My issue with the selected star is that it was supposed to represent the North Star in the sky. Most of the stars on the other options look celestial. The one on the proposed flag is just an octagram. There is a fine like between simple yet icon and just boring. This flag is just boring.
