I never do delivery, I only do pickups. It's a good excuse to go out anyway.
I find that Grubhub menu prices are costlier through the app than if you call them up or go through their app, even for pickup. Then why should I use their app. At times I get alerts for promos for 20% or 35% and only then does it make sense to use Grubhub.

I am guessing that with inflation, many would not want to pay the markups for using their app. What do you think?

I use DoorDash. My credit card offered me a free year of DashPass which is a monthly subscription they offer that reduces delivery fees and service fees to $0 for orders over $12. Of course, the food is still marked up but those fees are ridiculous.

Clearly my time is much more valuable than yours.

I order for lunch most days with my corporate DoorDash account. Lots of Sweetgreen and Local Foods.

I've tried to cut back on ordering at home once I realized we were spending over $1,000 per month on orders.

Grubhub gives me their Grubhub+ subscription for free because I have Amazon Prime. So delivery fees are $0. However, if you add tip (20%?) it makes it all not worth it even after getting delivery free. I'd rather enjoy a nice drive to pick up.

Funny thing happened today.
I ordered a burger and 10 boneless wings from Buffalo Wild Wings in my area through GH. Only reason I ordered through them was that GH sent me a promo code for $10 and BWW was giving me $5 back for first order. So I paid $17.xx for the burger + wings.
Then I got home and my wife goes wtf is this? Didn't you order boneless wings?? I said I know you told me to, but if they gave us bone-in I might have entered it wrong. So we eat a couple and then I see the receipt. It said Boneless. The restaurant messed up my order. So I go to GH's website and put in a complaint. The system instantaneously refunded me $17.xx.

So what did I eventually pay for one good sized burger and 10 wings? $0.40.

Local Foods has some good food.

Friend's son delivered for Favor.

He delivered a LOT to sorority row.

Money is no object when you have daddy's credit card.

FYI GrubHub is the only delivery app that supplies their drivers with legit, professional grade hot/cold bags.

My policy on this is that I never cheat businesses who do a good job by demanding refunds by making false claims.

However!
If I don't get what I ordered and paid for, then I don't spare them. I complain through their app and they usually refund the money or send me coupons for free meals. It does not make me rich or poor when I get this but it is the principle of it and it is fun also. It also helps business do a better job and not get sloppy as they get feedback.

I started using Door Dash a lot during Covid. And a bit after all that wasn't so crazy. Then my orders started being wrong half the time so I didn't use it as much. Then when I did order, my orders were wrong *all* the time, so now I have the app but I don't use it.
