With so many openly gay people on campus these days, do people who identify as "queer" and are in the band have a way to differentiate themselves from the other kind of BQ?

This is DQ BQ country!
I recently learned that it's still ok to call BQs BQs but people in the corps are no longer referred to at CTs/corps turds. That is the opposite of what I expected.
We BQs just reappropriated the term to rob it if its power. We even have a song about it. Band Queer for life.

Ya'll do know that BQ technically means "band qualified", right? I'm aware that it has had other connotations over the years.
Whatever qualification processes may have existed at one time were lost to the ages by 2001, I can assure you.

Yes but there hasn't been any sort of Band Qualified designation in probably 75 years.
I would think QBQs.

In 2001 this was a very loose requirement. Guy that was band commander the year after me had never played until like a week before he got there.

Current students have no idea what I'm talking about when I reference CTs.
They don't understand SBs either, despite a local band having a song about each group back in the 80's.

Used to really enjoy singing in Duncan and the one time we marched to Sbisa at the end of my zip year we sang it there as well. Shame they can't do that anymore.
*also even though I'm long dead I'm still bothered that the drill field is simply a place to cut across from south side garage to the quad and Qs live in dorm 10 and 12. Hell dorm
11 is a non reg dorm now.

Are you sure?
Pretty sure. I walked through there a couple weeks ago when I was training at TEEX one evening. No outfit signs on the dorm and one cadet said no corps units were in Dorm 11
