I had this xleaner pump go out this week. Went to look and saw I'd just replaced it in 2018 and 2012. Pool was built in 2008.

Does a pump like this burning up every four years sound reasonable? Am I doing something wrong?

If you won't come down after 4 hours, you should consult a professional.

You need a new set of ball bearings.

Could be a water pressure problem.
Post this in the Home Improvement board and search the threads on troublefreepool.co.

I have two Jandy's going on 13 years old and running fine. Only thing I can think of that might cause yours to fail is if you're pool level drops below the skimmer basket, running the pump without water.

Skip it. Buy one of those little robot guys that vacuum the pool instead.

maybe you are pumping too hard.

Had a friend who was pumping to hard and broke his pump. It was a messy situation that required immediate attention by a specialist.

His wife got break of another kind.
