Read an interesting article the other day about the pitfalls of app dating.

One thing stood out to me. It said, today, men and women are able to view more extremely attractive and beautiful members of the opposite sex in one sitting than most people in the history before internet and television most people would see in their LIFETIMES. It makes sense but I found that interesting and thought about it.

I don't have tiktok, as I'm sure it's rampant there, but on Instagram at least it's just a plethora of hot women. It almost gives you the impression that there are legions of these women out there, but that's not true.

It's been years since I've been single, but when you would download those apps, the vast majority of the women on there are Uggos and/or single moms who "aren't here for a hookup"

So onto the question. Social media has certainly warped our perceptions of not only beauty itself, but the availability of it.

What's the percentage of Uggos versus hot women in real life?

I'd say 70% Uggos. Y'all?

This is probably going in a different direction regarding the apps, but I would say the experience in the first week (ish) and with a free subscription is far different than later and with a paid subscription.

1) There are lots of fake accounts that are just trying to get follows on social media for commercial reasons.
2) The apps are going to show you the best profiles, be they real humans or not, to get you hooked in - and paying.

I have no idea if one or the other of those is more prevalent, but I feel strongly that both happen a lot. And both directly contribute to seeing more attractive people in a single sitting than one would in "real" life.

Was on the Tinder/Bumble swipe game for a bit after I was divorced. Fun to play at first - but I could only handle so many office quotes and 'handle me at my worst dont deserve me...' etc etc.

I'd always screenshot the heifers working at dollar general with 4 kids putting requirements on their profiles like "must be 6'1 to ride this ride. I don't make plans, I make memories..."

I will say - Houston has a grossly overweight woman issue comparatively to other cities/states when swiping.

Uggos as defined by 5 rating and under.... Solid 86%

So I got married long before all of this app hookup stuff existed. Is meeting people through friends, common interests, and - hell - at a bar just not a thing anymore?

I think just about any woman has something that's attractive about her. It's all.about knowing where to look and how to inspire it out of her.

I'm with you I find almost all women attractive for various reasons. Being dumb is the least attractive trait for me. Being independent is probably the most attractive.

If I was younger, better looking and had more money, I might have a different position.

Seems to me like the % of uggos correlates directly with the income bracket of the neighborhood you are in. Nice parts of Houston have beautiful women everywhere. Even a lot of the old women are looking pretty good. More run-down parts have tons of below average women. Foreign countries without internet have almost exclusively ugly women. On a city level, there are gorgeous women all over New York City, much smaller percentage in Houston. Places with good outdoor activities seem to attract more attractive people. Denver and Salt Lake City stand out for me.

For those that live in low income places that never leave, they probably do see many more gorgeous women online than in real life. But the women out walking dogs in the Memorial Villages is better scenery that what I've seen on dating apps.

High elevation tends to have healthier people than at sea level.

You know. Just an observation.

Ask any woman and they will say that they are all "10s" and so the "deserve" a "10" in a man.

The percentage that are what I consider hot is pretty low. Most are in the attractive range (5-8). It really is not hard to be attractive if they take care of themselves. Most that are ugly are just fat and would probably be pretty good if they lost 80-100 lbs.

I read a few months back where guys can find something attractive about 90% of females, and chicks only find about 20% of males attractive. I'll see if I can find the article.

Edit: turns out there are tons of articles in this. Who knows which I stumbled on.

There are definitely a lot more in Houston and SA. I'm always amazed at how many novelty fat people there are when I fly back to Texas. I'm talking the Whataburger and Travel Scrabble in hand, a lb or two away from being forever relegated to the 'Scuse the Cart!" mobile at IAH because they can't walk farther than the next gate kind.

Maybe it's because of the beaches but I don't really see that over here.

Well, that fits the percentage of men earning above average income

Your problem has now been solved. ChatGPT will create profile descriptions for people in many creative ways so you want see the "handle me at my worst" type cliches anymore.

One of the things I notice is that hot women have uggo kids.
I have a female friend who is really pretty. Even her husband is good looking. But both her kids, a boy and girl are fugly.
This is fairly common and visible in movie stars where the mom is dropdead hot and the kids and "wtf"?

Similarly, I've noticed that mixed-race couples usually have really attractive children.

Not all. There are a few that don't seem to mix as well (won't name them as it's not cool). Know several Pakistan- Northern European couples that have some of the most beautiful kids.

So THAT is the secret recipe they used in that recently publicized DNA mixing they did in the U.K.
