Mine go back through the Livingstons (Virginia, not New York/New Jersey- though if you go like 2 generations further back it's all the same). That's the main Scottish side, along with the Todds (Virginia). There are a bunch more that are English (Rutledge), and Irish. They all pretty much had family on both sides.

Then there is the dark side. The French Canadians.... lol

Completely possible. I was adopted, and have recently found my biological roots. The history nerd in me led me to do an insane deep dive on my biological family history (with some help from distant relatives).

Not quite true… They wanted BEITC to sell Chinese tea at super cheap prices to stop the flow of smuggled tea and increase tax revenue. So they gave a temporary partial tax break to Chinese tea imports. Once the smuggling stopped being lucrative, prices and other taxes could resume their normal rise, hurting colonists in the long run, especially now that precedent had been set that colonists accepted Townshend taxes.
