I'm sure in the Eagle headline(s) it was Cereal Killer.

Weren't there a couple around then? I think there was a guy who raped a girl then set her house on fire, killing her and a maybe also a roommate? There was also a serial rapist that was caught when he went through a victim's checkout line at the grocery store later.

Edit: maybe the fire was the same guy.

Different guys.

The murderer was executed. I remember him stalking a college student. He murdered her and set place on fire to hide evidence. Then he basically turned himself in.

There's a Dateline TV episode about that one.

I thought so but I could only find info about Ynobe Matthews.

I was there and I remember the 99 murder, but was at home the summer of 2000 and didn't realize the 2nd happened or they were connected.

I remember a guy who killed his girlfriend, cut her up, and tried to cook her on the grill.

I just remember the guy that blew his brains out in Appelt Hall. It was around 04/05.

I lived in that dorm in 07.

Had a hs buddy blow his brains out around that time but he did it an off campus apartment I think.

Thought this may have been related to an Unsolved Mysteries episode I watched back in 2001 but that forgot that was a Texas A&M student who raped a couple girls jogging around Campus back in '95. Got out on bond and fled.

Yep that one. Episode I watched was different though. It was was an update episode I guess. Remember it clear because it also had a girl being murdered and burned in her bed which happened in the same apartment my brother lived in Lufkin.

Went to school with Ynobe (Ebony spelled backwards) although he was a year younger. He was a nice kid, well liked, and popular across cliques. Whatever turn his life took when he dropped out, it was still a shock when I heard it was him especially being a student at the time of the murders

Wasn't there another murder at an apartment complex where the killer killed a coed in the wash room and the stuffed her body in a dryer? Or another campus?

Wasnt their some Doux Chene drama back in 2000s or however you spell that shady complex. I know there was a fire, but I think that place had a body count too

The murder and house fire was in 1994 and the victim was Lori Baker and the murderer was Ron Scott Shamburger. Lori and I went to school together through junior high when they moved away and were casual friends. I was shocked/ upset when I heard. The roommate came home after he killed Lori, but before he set the fire. He allowed her to live. There are so many details and I vividly remember each one. If you are interested, you can Google and find the info out there. Shamburger was executed quite a few years ago.

Yep. I was an RA in Eppright Hall. That was a scary night.

This is the one I was thinking of. Looks like he was executed while I was at A&M, which is probably why I remember hearing about it.
