Parents upset when you say 'no kids' at your party

Where does this entitlement come from where you get a bunch of upset parents because you ask that they not bring their offspring to the adult party that you're throwing?

Throwing a Halloween party and sent out invitations asking there be no kids, and have one specific friend group that are all b*tching that they can't bring their kids. Also, that exact friend group is the reason why the "no kids" policy is in place, as they like to turn every single party they are invited to into a mini-children's party. Amazingly they are all doctors and the financials of hiring a nanny are not really an issue as many of them already have a live in one.

I don't care if people bring their kids to a party, just don't get too upset when I drop an f-bomb or give them a beer or teach them a racist joke.

I'd be fine if they were kids you could teach racist jokes to, but it's like 5 separate 0-2 year old kids, and they just typically take up an entire living room as they watch them crawl on the floor and ask that we keep the music down for the kids.

Maybe it's not what you said, but how you said it that upset them. Just a thought

Oh hell no. Screaming children is the worst sound in the entire world.

I could see where they may take that as condescending. They are all doctors, but you have to tell them if their young children are staying home they should remember to get a babysitter? "No kids" alone may make them upset to a point, but the babysitter part probably made them say "**** this guy".

It's your party, make whatever rules you want and don't give a crap what others think. If they want kids at a party, they can throw their own party. And do you really want people at your party, who get upset because they can't bring their sex trophies?

The friends group is worked up because you targeted them (and maybe rightfully so) but you simply should have put it was an adults only party.

Could be they have grown out of having drunk Halloween parties, and prioritize their time with their kids?

That's not me, but I have friends that don't like to throw down anymore because they're scared of a hangover.

I have a 4 and 6 year old and there's no way I'd take them to any of the parties I'm going to. At one of them the big kid would get a lesson on T&A (rule #1 protected) but it's a bit soon for that. There's also sure to be jello shots and that's just asking for trouble with kids around.

You're friends are poosays to be upset at that. My wife and I have been invited to two weddings recently with "No kids" on the invitation. So I happily went by myself and got completely hammered on free booze.

Is the party on Halloween and does it conflict with trick or treating times?

Tell the parents to take their own kids trick or treating and **** off. Invite the au pairs to experience an authentic American tradition.

Meh, get thicker skin and stop getting your feelings hurt. If not taking your kids is a problem, don't go.

Hell, a party where I don't have to bring my kids is a major selling point to me.

Yes, because adults going out without their children are incapable of staying sober.

Tons of reasons "no kids" parties are better.

- Dress however you want.
- Talk however you want.
- Kids not taking up an entire room in the way.
- Can put on sports, or anything other than kids cartoons.
- Don't have kids interrupting every adult trying to talk.
- No screaming / fighting / I'm bored bull*****

Not guaranteed at an adult party.

parents should spend Halloween with their kids. Its a children's holiday. For children. Disregard if the party is not on Halloween.

Perhaps that is the case.

If so, they could -- you know -- decline the invitation to the party instead of griping about it.

If House of the Dragon has taught us anything, it's that this can go very wrong quickly.

Have kids.

I fully support an adults only / no kids party and would never get upset about a friend having such party.....however.....my threshold for caring to go to such a party is pretty high....not many people / parties i would want to mess w/ babysitter, etc to go to a party. However, we know plenty of people who want adults only events and i can understand.

I love my kids. I like most of my friends kids, too (even the annoying ones haha). No need to ship them off. Bring them over. Send them upstairs and hang out as adults. Occasionally handle the "XX hit me / stole my toy" or "I am hungry" but thats easy.

There's nothing better in this world than cancelling plans to go out the day of. If kids can help me facilitate that, I should have some.

Gd right.

The dopamine dump you get from cancelling some **** you dont want to do is unmached.
