Aggie Ring from '61 on Ebay from seller in India. Seller has two of them. I was thinking about buying this ring because it has "A&M College of Texas"

A seller in India selling a 14k Aggie ring for $170? Gee, I don't know, let me think about that for a m…yes, it's a scam.

It's not a scam per say, but you need to know someone who can securely purchase and accept the rings from the buyer. It's a really confusing process and I don't want to get into all of it.

For a '61, it looks to be in unusually perfect condition. My 2014 ring looks more worn than that thing.

I kinda want to buy one just to see what happens. But I also don't want to spend $180, just to see what happens. I lost my ring at Christmas 2020 and I was looking at ordering another one. I can't place an order until September. So by the time I would get this one, I would probably already get my replacement. I would look dumber than normal wearing two Aggie rings.

Send the listings to the Association and Balfour. Based on the description, this is a clear case of counterfeiting, which is governed pretty heavily and and the feds have amped up their efforts to go after forforeign counterfeiters.

That's how you get robbed twice

A few years ago someone here posted pics of a fake he had made for about $100 when he was working in China. It actually looked really nice. He said he bought it so he could wear it around as a 'daily wear' ring without having to worry about messing up his original.

Assuming he was alive, I'd rather buy it and give it back to the former student.

I saw my dad do that several times, and he turned the rings over to the Association.

This is pretty clearly a brand new counterfeit ring, not one that belonged to a former student.


Here's a 1925 Texas A&M Kingsville ring from the same lister.

What's remarkable is that it's a 1925 ring, with 2015 showing on the side of the ring. Oh, and Texas A&M Kingsville didn't even exist in 1925. At that point it was called South Texas State Teachers College. Unless they were very foresighted and knew it would become part of the A&M system in 1993.
