The sign the protester was holding said Expose Smithfield's Deathstar which refers to a pig farm in Utah that is 20 miles long. I googled it because curiosity got the best of me and had never heard of it. It was a nice take down.

The host/announcer always make the introductions of all the contestants something special, seeing how Joey is the greatest of all time, he gets the superstar treatment…

The former GOAT. The money hungry Major League Eating barred their participants from filling their stomachs and their wallets at non-MLE sanctioned events. Takeru didn't want to devour that deal, so he protested and was ultimately chewed up and spit out by the MLE.

What part of former are you not able to digest? Takeru was the supreme masticator of hot dogs before Joey. They only went stomach to stomach three times. In 2007 when Takeru's weapon of choice was severely injured, losing to the rookie by 3 hot dogs, in 2008 where they tied and he lost in overtime, and in 2009 when Chestnut became the undisputed leader wiener eater.

In 2011 Kobayashi competed solitarily in protest, eating 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes, setting an unofficial mark that Joey couldn't swallow until 2016.

The MLE robbed the hot dog eating public of an epic rivalry.

sorry this is a pretty gross tradition and i can't stand to even watch it....but that was a pretty dang good take down in the middle of a competition that was fun to see....
