There was a girl character in it (not Julia Roberts) who kind of looked like Sean Penn. Her boyfriend was the fisherman dude and was also in Full Metal Jacket.

And according to the IMDB, "Firehouse" was Julia's first movie followed by "Satisfaction".

you know, the interesting thing about Mystic Pizza is that that kind of stuff really happened. My dad's family is from Connecticut, and there is a huge Portugese population there that was and still is in some circles, ostracised by the WASP-y New England crowd. (CT also has a huge Jamaican population, but that's another thread).

My uncle married a Portugese woman and the stuff hit the fan there with my Mayflower-society country clubbin' grandparents.

Anybody watch "This Just In" on Spike?

It's hilarious. They made fun of Penn on it last night. The scene was at a White House Press briefing and went something like:

Pres. Bush: "Okay, you know I don't like these Q and A's. Mainly because I don't like the Q's and I think you're all a bunch of A's. But let's give it a whirl. (hands go up) Okay, who are you?"

Penn: "Sean Penn, from Al Jazeerah. Question: why won't you tell the American people the truth about this war you drug us into?"

Pres. Bush: "You know, I'd really like to take you seriously, but you were married to Madonna."

Penn: "THAT'S NOT AN ANSWER!!!"

Pres. Bush: " 'Shanghai Surprise.' Next question."

I LOVE That show!!!

That movie sucked, except for when they showed full frontal nudity from Julia Roberts.
