I don't think I have been to a US dentist since maybe sometime in the early 80's. I have had dental work done in Nicaragua, El Salvador, CR, the DR, and Mexico. El Salvador was the best, they had a program in the 80's where several European countries trained docs and dentists. The one my daughter and I went to, more so her as she had a complicated deal, was excellent. Lady practiced out of her house and had a nice set up.
In Mexico I would look at doing some online research on Monterrey instead of right along the border, as the per capita instances of hacks is higher along the border. Monterrey has good docs and dentists. Easy to get to, you can go to Laredo or McAllen, park in the parking garage near the bus stations, for about $35 there are really nice buses leaving about every hour. About a 3 hour trip, just be sure to stop and get your tourist card at the bridge, the bus company will know how to do that.
I know this dentist in Nuevo Progreso,
https://www.welcomehomergv.com/business/dental-progreso-dr-xavier-aguirre Grew up with him and his sister. Perfect English, good guy. A lot of our contemporaries go to him for dental work. I think he did some stuff for my daughter as well years ago, the wifa knows him better than I do. But I am not sure of the level of what he can and can't do, thus I would look at Monterrey as well.
I would only go to a dentist in Mex that you can communicate with first. Look at the reviews for them as well. I recommend Monterrey as it will be cheaper and if you have a multi day type of situation at least you are in a cool city to do something instead of crossing over the border and having to deal with that BS.
