How long do you want to ignore this user?
Hi, I'm an incoming freshman who I applied for housing last night (late ik) and was put on the housing waitlist. Does anyone here have experience being on the waitlist and how likely will it be that I will get a spot on campus? Should I start looking for off campus housing? Thanks.

I wish you the best of luck, but this is not the place for serious answers, just so you know...

Me personally, and I know my parents would say the same, if it is financially an option, buy a cheap place with three bed rooms and rent out the other bedrooms to cover the cost of the mortgage for you. Obviously this is easier said than done financially but if you or your family have the money you will save yourself a lot of money that way. Plus, on campus housing sucks.

Always have a backup plan. That goes for pretty much every situation in life.

Have a backup plan, but try for on-campus thebfirst year or two if you can get it. On-campus >>>>>>>> off-campus for meeting people and making friends early on.

Congratulations on your decision to become an Aggie!

Post this same question on both the Aggieland board and the Academics board for better responses.

You might also check out A&M specific message boards on collegeconfidential.com - lots of good info there.

Good luck!

And by "making friends" you know what he means so you definitely want on-campus.

Look at some of the "off campus" dorms, such as Calloway House. Can still have a dorm meal plan, dorm feel. Likely a bit more expensive but will be a lot easier to get to know people.

Dude dropped the ball by applying late for on-campus housing so now you want him to buy a house and take on all the responsibilities of house ownership?

Do some research on Ben Bitner Texas A&M. All you need is a hammock and sleeping bag.

Real advice... hook up with some chick at Fish Camp that's living on campus and move in with her. If you're lucky, she'll share some Aggie Bucks with you as well so you can eat.

It's honestly one of the best options. He'll a) gain equity in the house, b) take advantage of low interact rates, c) build credit, and d) learn all about the joys of home ownership.

Oh, and he'll get his **** together and learn responsibility too.

Not sure what the B/CS market is like, but houses in my Houston suburb are hitting the market and having going under contract in a few days.

Housing in B/CS was dirt cheap when I was in college, '07-10. It's not anymore from what I understand.

McFadden is very cush. You'll probably get into Moses with all the other kids that applied late. It looks like a **** hole, and it is a **** home, but you'll make some wonderful friends that last a lifetime
