Why do people set clocks ahead or behind? IMHO correct time is correct time.
Honest question, not trolling.

My mom did this so that she would be on time when she had to be somewhere. She was still 10 minutes late everywhere she went.

I set it to my phone. Actual time. It must feel pathetic if you have to set clocks forward to be on time

Since you know it's ahead how does it help you be on time? What you need is for someone to sneak into your house at night and set all your clocks ahead without you knowing anything about it.

This makes absolutely no sense. Why wouldn't you set it to the correct time?

Takes a while to get from the bedroom to the kitchen (including getting dressed along the way) so it adds a little kickstart to getting coffee going.
I don't look at my phone until I get to work.

My wife keeps her car clock fast - always freaks me out when I borrow her car.

She has to keep setting it faster because she adjusts to it (oh, I know it's 10 minutes fast, so don't panic yet).

All you hippies bragging about being "on time."

If you are on time you are late. 15 minutes early is the correct answer.

Okay - but that reminds me of a trick I used to do as a bachelor... when we set our clocks back, and you gained an hour, I would set my clocks and just gain like 20 minutes every couple of days. Spreading out that bonus hour over a week or so.

Not sure what time is on it or on the oven clock either. I don't wear a watch. The exact time hasn't been relevant for me in many years and I want it to stay that way.

That makes even less sense than setting your clock fast.

I was everywhere on time, actually - I was at work 40 minutes early, even after I slept an extra 20 minutes. Got lots of tasks out of the way & was well rested. It was awesome!

There's a power outage every year or two, so I figure what's the point of setting the clock on the microwave.

I set my VCR a few minutes early to make sure I don't miss the beginning of an episode, and record 30 minutes past so I don't miss the end.

No. Not really. But not sure how setting your clock incorrectly has anything to do with it

My experience is people who are perpetually late are selfish and not respectful of other people. They do not value other people's time.

Childish acts like setting clocks ahead 10 minutes are efforts to avoid addressing the real root cause - that they are self centered.

Whenever someone trippingly says "oh gee I just seem to always run late" my first thought is they mist be a self-absorbed jerk.
