Ideas for a simple, non-electronic toy for our 2yr old son for his birthday?

Right now I am thinking about a tricycle but wanted to hear other ideas since he's probably a few months too young for that.

It's a two year old. Get him a cardboard box or a coke bottle with some dry rice inside.

We sent our grandson a Brio train set for his 2nd birthday. He loves it. Something like this.

This - Don't get a tricycle. Balance bikes have kids riding without training wheels really young and kids love them.

Two might be a little young for a balance bike. I got my kid one of these for christmas when she was 2 and she still rides it at 5 years old:

Don't waste money on a balance bike. Get a regular bike and take the pedals off. Then put them back on when he can balance.

Get him a baseball, then spend countless hours in the back yard yelling at him for not being able to throw his breaking ball for strikes and crushing your big league dreams.

Yeah, if he doesn't already have a private hitting coach he will never make the Division 2A-Ted Williams-Elite-T-Ball-All-District-Mid-Southeast-Region-"State Champs" travel tournament team.

My almost two year old rides on a trike, but ours has handles and stuff that we can push, and you can disable the pedals so it doesn't hit him. Google Radio flyer roll 'n trike. It's made it through 3 kids with no issues and it has at least another year of my little one using it.

Rescue Heroes- try to get the old ones though. All the old stuff is better. Or a Tonks Dump truck or hot wheels Cars and a simple track. Or Snoopy fishing rod .

The best gift you can give for a kid at that age is something that they won't stop playing with after a few months, which is tough because of their rapid development. I think our son was 2 when we got him a toy kitchen, and we got 3 solid years out of it.

Legos. Tinker toys. Toy truck or tractor or dump truck to play outside in the dirt.

This! Have your child push themselves around without pedals. After they can pick up their feet and coast for a while put the pedals back on. Don't waste money on a balance bike.

Good luck.

Definitely balance bike for a two year old. Bikes with pedals are really heavy for a kid that age. I think I paid $60 for a balance bike, he used it for 15 months, then he graduated to a 12" wheel pedal bike, and I sold the balance bike for $40. That's barely more than a dollar/month.
Wooden trains are a great idea, too... and lots of sidewalk chalk to draw 'racetracks' in the driveway for the balance bike.

Just get him an empty appliance box.

Balance bike.

I understand the argument about taking the pedals off a traditional bike instead, but I agree with the previous comment that a traditional bike may be a bit too heavy at this age.

Also agree that they seem to hold their value and tend to sell quickly in my experience.

Didn't click but if your daughter is riding her ironing board that's something.

Don't listen to the stupid baseball dads. Tiger Woods won his first golf tournament when he was 2, or something like that. He is a billionaire. Sure, he likes weird sex in church parking lots, but l will say it again. Billionaire. Who are we to judge? Golf clubs. And not some plastic ones either. The real thing. Honma five star clubs. You don't have to thank me.
