Prematurely woken from his sleep, a 57-year-old Denton man could not explain to police where he was or what time it was.
He also couldn't stand unassisted, said Denton police spokeswoman Allison Vetere.
Officers were originally called to the 600 block of East Hickory Street less than 500 feet from the police station when a passerby noticed the unconscious man.

"There was no sober party to release the subject to, so he was arrested for public intoxication due to being a danger to himself," Vetere said.
She said the man's charge was enhanced because he had at least three prior convictions for the same offense.
Specifically, the 57-year-old has 33 previous convictions for public intoxication dating back to 1995, according to county records.
Yes, I'm 57.

No it wasn't me - as far as you know.

That said 33 convictions - No telling how many other instances didn't result in an arrest or conviction. Impressive.

I like hearing stories like this though because they always leave me feeling so much better about myself.
