Best Chicken Fried Steak in DFW?

I am sitting at a bar and saw the chicken fried steak that a patron ordered. It looked way too thin and criminally over-breaded.

Then I realized I haven't had a chicken fried steak in maybe fifteen years.

Surely this can't only be my revisionist history brain not remembering correctly and only attributing this delicious meal to the juvenile brain of my past.

I mean, I was a kid but, I remember places like Sodolak's being really good.

So where should I go in the DFW area for a proper chicken fried steak?

I get a decent one at celebration near Love. Unlimited fried okra.

Drive an hour west of DFW and go to Mary's in Strawn.

You can thank me later.

Can't believe Celebration is still there. Ate there with my family as a small child, and I'm 50 years old. Later after I moved to Ft Worth we used to eat at the Camp Bowie location which was *awsome* but it closed several years ago.

Do they still offer second helpings if you ask? Seems like when I was a kid (like 6 years old) they had a handmade leather shop attached but I may be slurring together different memories.

My favorite Celebration dish is the fried catfish.

That's too far for me, but when we head west for a trip I'll definitely fit it in to the route.

Forgive me because it has been a long time, but the steakhouse I'm thinking of is on the northside of 21. For you city-folk it was north on 6 to 21, take a right (east), and then it was a big red building on your left.

Unless we were coming from work, we were coming in westbound on 21, so it was on our right.

I remember my dad telling me some of the cows we sold ended up there.

Been there and Mary's. Mary's is way better. Mary's might be the best in Texas.

Wall Street in Midland, smoke stack in Strawn, and Longhorn in Bryan are the best I've ever had. I had CFS at Lounge Here and it was damn good. I know Ozona is pretty good too.

This. Mary's is most likely best in Texas.

In D/FW area, Norma's Cafe in Oak Cliff is my go to.

They give you as many servings as you ask for which for me is dangerous with fried okra.
