My favorite magnifying glass moment came from Naked and Afraid. The woman brought a magnifying glass to disinfect her water with the sun. She ended up extremely burned and dropped out.

Hahahaha.....I was thinking the same thing. I think her partner was just shaking his head at her burning to a crisp while holding that magnifying glass over her bucket of water on that desert sand dune.

Water can absorb a huge amount of energy before it undergoes a phase change. Why not make a fire with the glass, then boil the water with the fire?
