I say once they start walking they are toddlers. Age 4 and up to kids...my husband says they are babies as long as they are in diapers....what say you on this pointless discussion?

I've seen some 4 year old "babies" in diapers because "they arent ready" to be potty trained...

my friends 8 month old can crap in a kiddie toilet....

Toddlers when they start walking. Kids when they can form coherent sentences and/or are potty trained.

Just avoid the "he's 41 months old" BS. That **** drives me crazy

0-12 months - Infancy
1-3 yr - toddler
3-6 - preschooler
6-10 - school age
10-13 - preadolescence
13-19 - adolescence
19-40 - young adulthood
40-65 - middle adulthood
65+ - late adulthood

My youngest will be two in December. She's already smarter and prettier than anyone else in the known universe and will be my baby as long as I say so. My kid, my rules. Anyone who argues can choke on a bag of whatever repulses you the most.

Most kids start school at 5, not 6.

I've never heard anyone say "school age," and would assume they meant 5-18 if they did.

Pre-teen and teen would be more common than adolescence, but then 13 would technically be a teen.

I'm a man, I'm 30! I don't feel like a young adult anymore, but I'm I guess I'm that over middle-aged. I'd probably say "young family" or "young parent" for my cohort.



I agree babies can't walk and toddlers can. Three is probably a good cut off for toddler to kid, but my two year old talks well and though she's not potty trained yet she did tell me she was "tall enough for panties" the other day.
