Personally I'm still a traditionalist and have every intention of doing blindsiding everyone if I ever get divorced. Not sure I'd ask for permission. I'd probably ask for their blessing. Because as a guy, I'll get screwed by a lawyer either way.

In my case it was from her dad. Not mom. And I told her cousin before hand. He was cool with it.

I wouldn't call it a blessing, but I called Mr. Ex Fiance's Dad and said "Your daughter is a hoar and you're a terrible father!"

As it turns out, 70% of divorces are filed by women...and are actually more financially disastrous for women than men, even with child support and whatnot.

Well that makes sense. Women still have the child burden more than men, plus the fact that women get paid less on average and work less skilled jobs in general.
