I disagree with a couple of things there, but they seem like your normal, everyday Southern Baptist church to me.

I'm the last person who would ever defend southern baptists. These are not typical every day southern baptists.

Read some news stories about them. Don't sound like any Southern Baptists I've ever known.

Read some about them after Atag posted this, and they're the old "YMBBA" people.

They aren't borderline at all. I believe that you have to stop communication with your family and hand over all your belongings to the group. My husband is from Wells and they weren't there when he was there but when we went back a few years ago you saw members around town. They have bought several properties in the town and apparently get into it with some of the locals telling children that are going to school that they are going to hell. One of the homes they bought is right across from the schools too. Scary situation for families with children that still live there and they are trying to keep their kids away from them.

Anyone group that demands you choose them over your family and friends is, by definition, a cult.

Whitefield appears a little nervous

From what I understand they are allowed to talk to or call family anytime but they are only allowed to talk about the bible. So for example one of them had a baby and the mom couldn't ask about it
