I'm in Tamworth, New South Wales this weekend and at dinner tonight, I noticed several men wearing cowboy boots with spurs. One of the guys had his 10-12 year old son with him and the son was not wearing spurs. So, that led my 17 y/o daughter to ask a very good question.
When can a boy (or girl I suppose), start wearing spurs?
Is there an event like a Quincaenera or a Bar Mitzvah where a young cowboy gets his spurs?
I understand you have to win the belt buckle but I have no idea what qualifies one to wear spurs. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I wasn't smart enough to bring my cowboy boots with me. Maybe next time. Although, they were sorely lacking in SPJST halls in the area.
