I am sad to admit that I watched Joe Millionaire last night. This European women all made nasty faces when they were told he was a cowboy. They said "To European women being a cowboy is a joke." They also didn't seem to impressed with Texas either. I think I take offense to that.

So what kind of man do they want? Some guy like Mike Meyers character on the SNL skit "Sprockets"? Some guy wearing all black with slicked back greasy hair who spends his days looking down on people and pondering his existance?

Any European women out there care to speak up? If there are not European women on the forum I would settle for the views of a well traveled worldly kind of woman who would know such things.

I am glad I live in Texas where most women still seem to value real men.

They didn't seem to mind the Texas part of the Cowboy part when they found out he was "rich". Like I said before, the gullable, eurotrash gold diggers are going to get EXACTLY what they deseve.

The vast majority of people in Europe think Bush is a dumbass cowboy. this could have something to do with it.

If you'll allow me to speak on behalf of all European women: they have varying opinions on the subject.

Why do you care what those idiots in Europe think?

i too watched it last night, and i think these european girls will give us the show we wanted last season. Lots of talking about how rich he is, and in the end a BIIIIIG fight!

Can you blame them? Cowboy hick types are for the most part pathetic and goofy. Starched jeans, goofy hats, and an idiot voice only make people look like more of a dumbass than they already are.

Don't know what they're talking about - when I went back in '96, they were all fascinated with the fact that we were from Texas. My brother went two years before I made the trip and he said the same thing. In fact, on of the guys who went with my bro was a mid-50s "cowboy" in every sense of the word. Women were constantly talking to him, asking to wear his cowboy hat and stuff....

Sounds to me like this show just happened to pick some stupid beeothces....

It was the same when I was stationed in California. I have a Texas Twang and I was constantly being asked to "say something".

However, I obviously haven't been anywhere or met anybody from outside of my own neighborhood because I don't care what Europeans think.

I think Junk might have hit the nail on the head. When I travelled to Europe in the past, I've had experiences much as Terminator refers to. Most were fascinated with Texas. I was even told by many to say first off that I was from Texas instead of the U.S. (weird because obviously Texas is in the U.S.).

When I went this past year, however, as soon as you even mentioned you were from Texas, it immediately turned into a Bush bashing session. I mean instantly. So, I think it is very possible that the bad reactions to being a Texas cowboy may stem from Europeans' perception of Bush.

how is stating the fact that people in europe do not have a high opinon on bush because of his "cowboy" ways "bashing" him?

anyway, I ONCE AGAIN AGREE WITH GENE, cowboy types are joke. the way they are precieved in the UNITED STATES is negative (unless you live in the south of course) much less in Europe.

I can safely say I am probably one of the most "worldly" people on this board... or at least grew up that way... I lived in London for 5 yrs, attending private English schools, playing rugby, football (aka soccer), conkers, studied for a few weeks in Paris. Lived in Holland for 3 years, lived in Bahrain (middle east) for 3 years, lived in South America, visited the Berlin Wall in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Wales, Scotland, Saudi Arabia.
That's all just blah blah blah to you, but guess what...I couldn't care less how they view Texans either.

Do you honestly think the French care one bit how Americans in general feel about them (that they are rude/nasty people)?

I get what you're saying, but I don't think so. It was usually the older women (30 and up) and it happened all the way from Germany, down into Italy, and back up into London. It wasn't like it was just a few b1tches...

A fried chicken restaurant down the street from our hotel even had a Texas flag hanging on the wall when I was in London. This led to one of the only Texas-related problems during that trip - some big black guy at the place overheard us commenting about the flag and said something to the effect of "**** you and **** Texas - bunch of racist mother****ers - my brother went to Texas and was killed just because he was black - I should kill y'all sorry ****ers." Needless to say, we left in a hurry and didn't go back.

I will say it again:

Bush has single handedly strained our relationship with Europe (does not matter who you think is wrong or right) and in the process he has (because of his obvious let's just call it "normal American way of being" also made the cowboy and the Texan look VASTLY different to Europeans. I KNOW this because The EXACT same thing happened to me when I was there that a previous poster said.

When I said I was from Texas, the comment was

"oh right, like Bush” in a condescending way

and I said "No, not like bush, we are all not idiots down there" <-----that's a bash, Procter, can you tell the difference, badass?

Honestly, I don't care what the Europeans think. I was more surprised at their attitude more than anything. It would suit me fine if we sent the Texas State Guard over to take over France.

I am not a worldly well traveled person but it seems to me that when Europeans thought of Texas they used to think of JR Ewing and "Dallas", now I guess they think of "Dubya" and that isn't a good thing in their eyes.

Does anyone here think it was "cool" to be a Texan before Bush was elected President?

I was proud to be a texan until all this psuedo-texanna Pat Green crap came out.

I'm glad some of you think that grabbing snobby Europeans is different than grabbing snobby model-type Americans or that the same *group* of girls they grabbed make up for the entire population.

Even if you didn't think the last part, there are many American women who think they're too good for foreigners ...just as many of them do w/americans.

I agree with whomever said "why do you care what Europeans think?"

seriously, who gives a ****? Are you happy in Texas? Are you happy in the US?

I take one look at these countries and they have nothing that makes me want to move there or desire their approval.

It would be like going and asking some bum if your salary is appropriate for your demographic.
